carthiefPOLICE in Derry are urging motorists to remember to lock their vehicles at all times.

It follows a recent spate of thefts from vehicles in the Waterside area of the city.

An officer has posted on PSNI Foyle’s Facebook page: “Friendly reminder to vehicle owners to make sure that you secure your vehicles when they aren’t in use.

“There have been a number of thefts from vehicles in the Waterside area of the City over the past few days. The majority of these thefts were from UNLOCKED vehicles.

“These are opportunistic crimes. Let’s make it more difficult for the criminals by securing your vehicles and not leaving any valuables in them.

“If you notice anyone acting suspiciously in your area or trying door handles of vehicles please contact Police.”
