SDLP Foyle MLA Mark H Durkan, has urged local people to take part in a review of the PIP process.

He said: “It is not before time that an investigation into the many areas of concern for PIP claimants, particularly the assessment process and procedures has been agreed.

“We have consistently highlighted the many failings of PIP and have been very vocal in calling for a serious review of its roll out. I’m glad that the Department has initiated this review and launched a call for evidence.

“The call for evidence is focused on issues such as how the assessment process is operating, people’s experiences, the role of the health care professionals, Capita and the effective use of further evidence.

“I would actively encourage anyone who works in the advice sector or who has experience of going through the PIP process as a claimant to participate in this review by submitting information to the Department.

“My office will be more than happy to assist anyone who needs support responding to the review,” added the Foyle MLA.
