The yellow can belonging to ‘Dougie’ which police in Derry are trying to trace

A well known car criminal to police got nabbed last week after he nipped home to watch the first episode of new comedy series Derry Girls.

Dubbed ‘Dougie’ by police, the convicted dangerous driver had evaded police on Wednesday when he drove across the border into Donegal in his yellow van.

But Ballyarnett police eventually caught  up with him at his home where he was spotted in his living room enjoying the part one of Channel 4’s raved about comedy about family lifein Derry during Troubles.

This is now PSNI Foyle reported the hunt for ‘Dougie’ on its Facebook page:

“OK we all liked #DerryGirls but the fella we arrested and Charged, we’ll call him Doug, would have been better reading ‘Crime for Dummies’ than watching TV

“In the last year we’ve seized about 6 of Dougies cars   for things like No Insurance and Dangerous Driving.

“But has he learnt? Of course not!

“On Wednesday Ballyarnett Neighbourhood Team ‍♂ saw Doug AGAIN in this Yellow Van but he mounted the curb and fled over the border.

“Imagine our joy on Thursday when we drove past his house and saw him through the window watching #DerryGirls .

“Being the master criminal he is Douggie jumped over the sofa  and hid.

“Five minutes later his head popped up for a look , he couldn’t risk missing more of the first Episode.

“As we were still watching through the window we just waved at him and told him to open the door#FacePalm ‍♂

“We never got this Van.
