Serious flooding in Foyle tonight as Storm Eleanor brings heavy rain and wind in from the Atlantic PIC BY DONAL DUNN

POLICE in Derry are advising motorists that a number or roads in the city have been affected by heavy rain as a result of Storm Eleanor sweeping in from the Atlantic this evening.

PSNI Foyle say: “The weather is starting to take its toll on our roads.

“Clooney Road is starting to gather water.

“Particularly watch the Clooney Carriage as the water always builds up onthose bends after Gransha.

“Also affected is the Glenshane Road at Drumahoe, Irish Street close to the roundabout, Foyle Road and Letterkenney Road.”

The advice from police is that if your journey is not necessary, then stay at home.

Across the North of Ireland, around 21,000 homes are currently without power, mainly in the south.
