POLICE WARNING: WATCH OUT FOR CHRISTMAS PICK POCKETS AND THIEVES

POLICE in Derry are advising the public to be on their guard against pick pockets and thieves as they finish off their Christmas shopping.

In a message on its Facebook page, PSNI Foyle say: “Not long now until Santa 🎅🏻 arrives and we have a full weekend to prepare, wahoo!!!

“Personally and I might be in the minority here, I think I’m glad to be working as it will probably be slightly (note slightly) less stressful.

“Now it’s a time when our heads are more than likely elsewhere, we’re not totally aware of our surroundings and the shops are packed with people rushing to purchase that last minute prezzie.

“”The supermarkets will be bunged with shoppers filling their trolleys and all too often the trolleys are left unattended with a handbag sitting/hanging on it.

“These conditions are ideal for opportunistic thieves and pick pockets.

“Don’t make it easy for them.

“Look after your property and have a safe day shopping.”
