ANGER AFTER BAG CONTAINING AMMUNITION FOUND BESIDE CHILDREN’S PLAY PARK – DUFFY

DERRY Sinn Fein Councillor Sandra Duffy has expressed her horror at discovering that children came across a bag containing ammunition just outside a playpark at Ederowen Park
The discovery comes just days police said a search of a house in Ederowen Park resulted in the recovery bomb components parts in a “cubby hole”.
Councillor Duffy said: “This area is very popular with local children and families and to think that someone would leave a bag containing live rounds of ammunition for children to find is a very worrying development.
“Whoever is responsible for this has again shown no regard for the local community.
“This comes just days after a security alert in the area on Wednesday night where local families were evacuated from their homes.
“The groups or individuals behind this need to get off the back of our communities and leave people to live their lives without worrying about what their children may find at the local play park.
