Sinn Fein councillor Eric McGinley calls for more police action against criminals in Ballymagroarty

SINN Féin Councillor Eric McGinley has called for a greater PSNI response in relation to ongoing criminal activity in the Ballymagroarty area of the city.

Cllr. McGinley said: “There is a growing sense of frustration from residents at the lack of action being taken in relation to arrests and prosecution of criminals who have been wreaking havoc within our communities.

“These individuals have been responsible for break-ins, attempted burglaries and car crime and appear to be carrying out these activities with impunity.

“Whilst we appreciate the PSNI requires credible evidence to bring these criminals to court there is a concern being expressed that not enough focus is being placed on this problem’

“I have requested a meeting with the PSNI to raise our concerns.

“I will be asking for more resources to be deployed to combat the criminal actions of a number of individuals who are plaguing our communities.

“In most cases these criminals are gaining entry to homes through unlocked doors and I would appeal to residents to be vigilant at all times and ensure doors are properly secured,” he added.
