TIERNEY: CAUTIOUS WELCOME FOR BUNCRANA ROAD DEVELOPMENT

SDLP Derry Councillor Brian Tierney has given a cautious welcome to news that the Department for Infrastructure has appointed consultants to develop a scheme for the Buncrana road widening project.
Cllr Tierney confirmed that the SDLP has been lobbying the department to move on the scheme for some time.

He said: “The widening of the Buncrana Road has been a priority for motorists and commuters in Derry for years. Tailbacks and traffic congestion have been a daily part of life for people using the road for too long.

“SDLP representatives have been pressuring the Department of Infrastructure to move on this project for some time.

“I’m pleased that our work is now showing results.

“It’s critical that local people have power in this process. We will be scrutinising the project closely to ensure it delivers for the city.”
