DERRY City say it is pleased to announce that first team manager Kenny Shiels has extended his contract until the end of the 2019 Season.

The Co Derry man has led City to European football for the last two years with consecutive top four finishes.

In a statement, the club said: “The 2018 Season will kick off in February 2018 and the club will be delighted to have Kenny Shiels and the Candystripes #BackAtTheBrandy

Shiels said: “I am delighted that the chairman has shown faith in me.

“When someone shows faith in me it makes me want to go out and work all the harder to bring success to the club.”

The contract extension comes 24 hours after Shiels secured the signing of five players ahead of the start of the new 2018 season.
