PSNI Foyle has urged the public in Derry to ‘Stay Safe This Hallowe’en’ as it launches a drive to risk injures to people using illegal fireworks.

A spokesperson said: “This week we will be highlighting some of the calls we attended last year in relation to anti-social behaviour during Halloween and asking you to think about the impact your actions can have on others.

“£6pm: Caller reports fireworks being thrown at passing traffic

“The dangers are obvious.

“How many people could have been seriously hurt or killed if any of those drivers had lost control of their vehicles?

“It is an offence to throw fireworks in the street or in other public places.

“So ‘Stay Safe This Hallowe’en.”
