A major accident and emergency operation has been launched after an incident at the Bridgend Roundabout last night.

It is understood that there has been a serious two-car collision.

Local reports say there were children in one of the cars which was struck by another.

It is not known how seriously injured those in the collision are.

Several ambulances and fire tenders from both sides of the border are at the scene of the incident.

It is understood that the crash followed an incident involving a car which was trying to evade Gardai.

Diversions are n place in the area.

Hundreds of people attending the Derry City  v Finn Harps game at Maginn Park in Buncrana were caught up in the traffic which was backed-up as a result of the crash.
