POLICE ADVICE TO PROTECT YOUR HOME AFTER BURGLAR ARRESTED

THE PSNI say its District Support Team in Foyle were involved in a proactive policing operation at the weekend.

A male was arrested for a number of burglaries which took place in the Derry City and Strabane area and also several motoring offences.

A police spokesperson said: “To lessen your chance of falling victim to burglary we suggest the following advice:

“Do not leave keys in the front or back doors

“Close and lock windows and doors at night

“Never leave a spare key in a convenient hiding place

I”t is also wise to keep valuables out of sight.

“Security mark all your valuables.

“Consider installing a home security system

“Security lighting around the perimeter

“Lock garages and sheds

“Give your property an occupied look

“Use Quick Check scheme to check identity of callers.”
