SINN Féin Councillor Mickey Cooper has welcomed the initial findings of Conars Court Survey of Works.

Councillor Cooper said: “The problems around the Conars Court complex have been well documented in the local press for some time now.

“There have been concerns over structural and heating issues.

“The preliminary findings of a number of consultant’s reports have found that the building is structurally sound with hairline cracks due to shrinkage and settlement consistent with the property type.

“Minor work is required to apartments for servicing of windows and doors along and some minor plaster repairs. The electrical systems were found to be ok and smoke and heat detectors are to be replaced also.

“A number of other tests are taking place and it’s important if any issues arise that they dealt with immediately.

“I will continue to liaise with residents and Habinteg Housing as we move forward in finding a satisfactory conclusion to all residents’ issues,” he added.
