TRAFFIC UPDATE: ROADS REMAIN CLOSED AFTER FLOODING

A NUMBER of roads remain closed today after the severe flooding of Tuesday 22nd August.

Motorists are advised to follow diversions for the following routes:

Co Derry Roads Closed:

  • A5 Victoria Road (between Newbuildings and Strabane)
  • Ardlough Road
  • Strabane Old Road/Woodside Road, Derry
  • Cregg Road, Claudy
  • Church Street, Claudy – closed until further notice
  • Hall Road, Coleraine
  • Cumber Road, Claudy (Ballynamee Bridge collapsed)
  • Lisdivin Road, Strabane
  • Ballylintagh Road, Coleraine – Lightly trafficked road waiting flood to subside naturally, probably sometime Thursday 24 August
  • Lower Ballyarton Road, Claudy
  • Kilnappy Road, Derry

The PSNI have asked motorists to adhere to the diversions in place.

Translink have confirmed that all services in the Foyle area are back operating as normal this morning. Services 98/273 R between Foyle Street and Strabane are being diverted.

In the event of flooding, if anyone is in need of rescue dial 999 otherwise telephone the Flooding Incident Line on 0300 2000 100. The Flooding Incident Line provides a single point of contact to report when property is flooded or flooding.
