POLICE MAKE FRESH APPEAL FOR WITNESSES FOLLOWING TRAGIC DEATH OF DONNACADH MAGUIRE

Donnacadh Maguire who tragically died after being struck by a car in Derry last week

THE PSNI in Derry have re-issued an appeal for information following the death of young Donnacadh McGuire in the Bogside last Tuesday, July 11.

The six-year-old was found severely injured and lying in Tyrconnell Street at around 10.30am.

Police believe he was playing in the street when he was struck by a car.

Donnacadh was tended to at the scene by his mum Sarah before paramedics arrived.

The popular young boy was taken to hospital but sadly passed away from his injuries.

A man was arrested for questioning but later released pending further inquiries.

Inspector Marty Mullan said: “I would appeal to anyone that was on Tyrconnell Street on Tuesday 11th July, between 10am and 10.30am, to please get in touch with officers at Strand Road police station, or the Collision Investigation Unit, by calling 101, quoting reference number 390 of 11/07/17.”
