Police at Strand Road police station quizzing two men over robbery and burglary last night in the Derry

THE PSNI in Derry are jubilant after the combined efforts of local officers and a specialist team caught up with two crooks last night before they wrecked havoc in the city.

Both are currently in custody at Strand Road police station being questioned about a robbery, a burglary and a number of motoring offences including taking and driving away a vehicle without lawful authority.

A Foyle spokesperson said: “LPT 2, LPT 5 and TSG officers combined to arrest two males who were on a crime spree in the city last night.

“Following reports of a hijacked vehicle from Donegal being abandoned near Foyle Road and a subsequent burglary in the area police attended and following enquiries linked two males who were involved and located at a robbery that occurred a short time later on Spencer Road.

“There is no doubt that the good detective work from the officers involved prevented these two males from committing further crimes in the city tonight.”
