Sinn Fein Cllr Mickey Cooper.

SINN Féin Councillor Mickey cooper has welcomed a meeting between himself, representatives of the PSNI and residents of Clarence Avenue to discuss traffic and parking issues in the area.

He said the new arrangements now put in place should help residents to report traffic issues which have caused problems for them accessing their properties in the last few years:

Councillor Mickey Cooper said: “I am pleased that the recent meeting which I organised and attended has seen new reporting mechanisms put in place which will allow local residents to report issues of double parking and other obstructions to the police in a much more effective manner.

“The area has long been blighted by large volumes of parking by city centre workers and local students which has caused much frustration for residents.

“The new system will hopefully alleviate these issues in the coming weeks and months.

“I have already worked with the police and residents to initiate a similar scheme in the Aberfoyle area which has helped to ease some of the issues residents were experiencing.

“I am confident the same will apply in the Clarence Avenue area,” he added.
