DERRY City and Strabane District Council are offering the public the opportunity to give their views on a proposed upgrade to the playing pitches at the former grounds of the Immaculate Conception College on Trench Road.
The Public Consultation Event is being held at Hillcrest House in Jasmine Court on Monday June 12th and an unmanned display of the proposals will be available for viewing from May 29th until June 12th at the same venue.
The proposed works include a new grass floodlit GAA Football pitch with modular changing facilities and possible refurbishment of the existing all weather multi-use pitch at the site.
Speaking ahead of the event, Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Alderman Hilary McClintock urged local people to avail of the chance to have their say on the development.
“The proposed improvements to the pitches are part of a major regeneration of the Immaculate Conception College site that will include 220 new homes,” she said.
“The upgraded facilities can act as a hub for the community to come together through sport and I would encourage local people to take ownership of the process by having a look at the plans at Hillcrest House and coming along to the Public Consultation Event on June 12th.”
Members of the public can make representations before June 19th 2017 by e mail or by using the feedback forms provided at both the public event and the unmanned display.
The Public Consultation Event will take place from 2pm – 8pm on Monday June 12th at Hillcrest House, 17 Jasmine Court, Derry, BT47 2DZ.
