LORRY DRIVER CHARGED WITH CAUSING DEATH OF MARGARET MCLAUGHLIN

A MAN has been charged with causing the death of an elderly woman in a two vehicle crash.

A black Ford Mondeo saloon car and a lorry were involved in the collision on Urney Road in Strabane around 10.30 pm on Monday night.

Margaret McLaughlin was a front seat passenger in the Mondeo car.

Tragically the 69-year-old died in hospital from the injuries she sustained in the crash.

Police said a 20-year-old man was arrested at the scene and taken in for questioning.

He is expected to appear before Dungannon Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday morning for a first remand hearing.

The suspect is charged with several offences which include causing death by dangerous driving and using a motor vehicle without insurance.
