SINN FEIN’S ANDERSON SLAMMED OVER ‘STICK YOUR BORDER WHERE THE SUN DOESN’T SHINE’ REMARK

THE DUP has hit out at Sinn Fein MEP Martina Anderson over remarks she made in the European Parliament earlier this week saying the party’s “mask had slipped”.

The Sinn Féin was addressing a virtually empty European parliament, rejecting any kind of border in Ireland after Brexit.

She said rather than listen to concerns over Brexit, Ireland had been told to “get over it” and added “no border hard or soft would be accepted in Ireland”.

Referring to Prime Minister Theresa May, the convicted IRA bomber said: “Theresa, your notion of a border, hard and soft, stick it where the sun doesn’t shine ‘cos you’re not putting it in Ireland.”

Former DUP Minister Nelson McCausland hit out at the remarks.

He said: “The Sinn Fein mask slipped somewhat when Martina Anderson spoke in the European Parliament on Monday.

“This is old-style Sinn Fein.”

McCausland also posted on Facebook: “At one time Martina Anderson was appointed by Sinn Fein as their outreach person to unionists.

“It was meant to be a ‘charm offensive’ but she obviously forgot the charm bit and just stuck to the offensive.”
