SINN Féin Shantallow Councillor and Assembly Candidate Elisha McCallion has welcomed funding of £700,000 to develop a district children’s park at Ballyarnett Country Park.

The former Mayor of Derry said: “This is very welcome news for the Greater Shantallow area and for the whole of the City.

“The first phase of the development of the children’s district park is due to begin at Ballyarnett within weeks.

“This £700,000 investment has been secured from the Assembly Executive and the Park is due to be completed by summer of this year.

“This will be a first class amenity for the enjoyment of the children and people of Greater Shantallow and the entire City.

“It is a well over due development that I and my Sinn Féin colleagues on Council have been lobbying for over many years,” added Cllr McCallion.
