O’NEILL LAUNCHES FOYLE SINN FEIN ELECTION CAMPAIGN

THE new leader of Sinn Féin in the North Michelle ONeill was the guest speaker at an event in the Gasyard Centre at the weekend to officially launch the Foyle SF election campaign.

She said: “I am delighted to be here in Derry today to launch the election campaign of both Raymond McCartney and Elisha McCallion – two fantastic candidates who I have no doubt will serve the people of Derry with distinction.

“Raymond is someone I have worked with for many years. He is an inspiring figure within republicanism, someone who has committed his entire life to the struggle and a valued member of our Assembly team who we often turn to for political advice and guidance.

“And in Elisha we have someone who epitomises the new generation of republican political leaders.

“A young mother, sitting councillor and a former mayor who made a massive impact during her year as First Citizen, she will be a huge asset to the assembly team and to the people of Derry.

“I also want to take this opportunity to send solidarity to Martin McGuinness and his family.

“Words can’t express how much admiration I have for Martin and the leadership he has shown.

“It is a huge honour for me to take over the mantle from him and I am determined to do him proud.

“I know you will all join me in sending him our best wishes.

“It is fitting that we have people of the calibre of the  team of Martin, Elisha and Raymond because we are facing into a hugely important election.”
