DERRY City and Strabane District Council’s Planning Committee have approved the erection of 14 new dwellings in Victoria Meadows in Magheramason.
Members attending the meeting at the Guildhall, were informed how the application is an amendment to a previously approved scheme that seeks to reduce the number of dwellings resulting in a reduced density layout.
As part of the proposal, in curtilage parking is provided for a number of the dwellings with a mix of semi-detached and terraced dwelling house types that will complete the scheme previously approved.
Welcoming the decision for the new dwellings, the chairperson of the Planning Committee, Cllr John Boyle said the provision of additional housing was welcome news for the Magheramason area and would be a substantial boost to the local economy.
Derry City and Strabane Council’s Chief Executive John Kelpie also welcoming the decision said the provision of new housing in rural areas was one of the key deliverables of the developing Community Plan/Inclusive Growth Plan.
