POLICE say officers have taken action against ‘boy racers’ following reports they were driving at speed up and down Strand Road in Derry.

Residents had complaint that they had been “generally causing nuisance and annoyance in the locality”.

A police spokesperson in Foyle said: “Tactical Support Group (TSG) patrolled the area and spoke with some drivers.

“Through engagement officers were able to highlight the issue with the young people and offer words of advice.

“A number of minor construction and use offences were noted and pointed out to some drivers who will rectify these in coming days.

During this patrol one driver was issued with a Penalty Notice with points for Excess Speed.”
