SINN Féin Councillor Eric McGinley has condemned the anti-community behaviour which took place in Derry’s Hazelbank at the weekend.

Cllr McGinley said: “On Sunday night a car was burned in close proximity to Marianus Park whilst a property in Rosskeen Park was also the subject of vandalism.

“It appears that a crowd of around 30 people from different localities across the city have been causing some disturbance in the Hazelbank area for a period of time.

“And Sunday night’s incidents marked a significant increase in this behaviour.

“The residents of Hazelbank do not need this type of behaviour on their doorstep.

“I have been in contact with the PSNI to ensure that adequate resources are deployed in the area.

“I have also asked the Housing Executive to bring the property in Rosskeen Park back into use as quickly as possible.”
