THE PSNI in Derry have taken a batch of illegal fireworks off the streets and prevented people sustaining serious injury.

The fireworks were seized last night while officers were on patrol in Eglinton.

A spokesperson said: “Tactical Support Group members were conducting a vehicle check point in the Eglinton area last night when they came across a quantity of fireworks tucked away in the spare wheel well of the car.

“Needless to say…he had no fireworks licence for them.

“He will now be reported to the Public Prosecution Service.

“Remember to stay say safe this Hallowe’en and if you wish to purchase fireworks, then you must obtain the correct licence.”
