Sinn Fein Cllr Mickey Cooper.

SINN Féin local economy spokesperson Councillor Mickey Cooper has welcomed the news that the Department for Communities is hosting a major Jobs Fair in Derry tomorrow.

The North West Jobs Fair event will take place on Thursday, October 6  in the Millennium Forum from 10 am to 3 pm.

Councillor Cooper said: “Jobs Fairs are a practical way of helping to match local people searching for work with opportunities for jobs and apprenticeships.

“It will enable direct access for Jobseeker’s to companies with vacancies, apprenticeships and training schemes.

“There will also be support organisations available to assist with your job search and provide advice on CVs, interviews and  guidance on training.

“During this challenging time for the economy it is important to provide opportunities for those in Derry and Strabane who are in need of work through redundancy or are simply finding it difficult to get their first job.

“This initiative will provide Job Seekers an opportunity to meet a wide variety of employers with vacancies and access opportunities all under one roof,” added Cllr Cooper.
