Brooke ParkSINN Féin Councillor Mickey Cooper has welcomed the news that Brooke Park will open to the public as planned in early Autumn, with a special celebratory event marking the reopening planned for early next year.

Councillor Mickey Cooper said: “This is not only good news for the people of the greater Rosemount and surrounding area but indeed the entire city.

“The multi million pound investment at Brooke Park has seen the transformation of the it over the last few years and I believe has been worth the wait to ensure the site is safe and ready for use.

“The wide open green spaces it offers is an asset we must use at every opportunity to promote healthy living, sports and there is also the whole potential of the historical aspect of the park.

“It is a wonderful resource we have here in the heart of our city.

“It must be seen in the overall context of the development of recreational and sporting facilities in our city and the regeneration of the area,” added Cllr Cooper.
