BIG-HEARTED James McClean has once again helped out a Derry family struggling with the tragic loss of their beautiful daughter.
The Creggan father of two has donated £500 to a crowd-funding page set up help the family of Sofia Parke cover her funeral costs after she tragically lost her battle for life at the weekend.
James is well known for his kindness and generosity which never gets a mention in the British press who are more keen to attack than praise him.
But his family and friends back home in Derry know all too well about the West Brom winger’s giving and his £500 donation to Sofia’s funeral costs will be much appreciated by her loving parents.
He his wife Erin Connor – the couple tied the knot in Derry in May – have given several thousand pounds over the past number of years in grief or much less well off than themselves.
James has been touched as so have many people at the tragic and sad death of Sofia at weekend.
Sofia Parke from Derry passed away at a hospital in England on Sunday.
The brave girl, who was just two years-old, had been battling illness during her short life.
The little Angel had been born with only one half of her heart developed and had undergone a number of operations.
Tragically, Sofia passed away at Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
On her second birthday, she was rushed to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast for treatment.
But she later transferred to the Birmingham hospital where she sadly lost her brave battle for life surrounded by her loving parents Stephen Darius and partner Bronagh.
A crowdfunding page was set up today up to help the family with funeral costs.
And with the £500 donation from James McClean, so far £2,350 has been raised with generous donations for Sofia’s heartbroken parents and family.
