SINN Féin Councillor Mickey Cooper has welcomed the news that the Rock Post Office in Derry  has been chosen to be one of the Post Offices new main style branches.

Councillor Cooper said: “It is welcome news for residents of the lower Strand Road area, that the long established Rock Post Office will now get a revamp to make it one of the new main style branches.

“The change is part of a major investment and support programme, the largest undertaken in the history of the PostOffice, which will see 8,000 branches converting to new style branches.

“And an additional investment in over 3,000 community and outreach branches.

“Consumers can expect a newly refurbished branch providing a modern environment for customers, the same products and services and longer opening hours.

The new look Post Office on the Strand Road  is expected to open on Friday 23rd September, 2016 at 1 pm.

“Customers should be aware that the office will close  on the 13th September so the refurbishment can take place.”
