SINN Fein Foyle MLA Martin McGuinness has stated that Brexit would be hugely detrimental to the north of Ireland.
During June’s referendum, the majority of the people in the North voted to Remain within the EU.
DUP First Minister Arlene Foster backed the Out campaign.
Scotland also voted to Remain.
The deputy First Minister:
“The referendum result posed huge and unprecedented challenges. In the up-coming negotiations we need to ensure that we defend and protect, to the best of our ability, the interests of the people we represent.
“Brexit is bad for business, bad for our agricultural and argi-food industries, bad for our young people, our universities, our community and voluntary sector and all Ireland development to name a few examples.
“The Sinn Féin position is clear – the democratic decision of the people of the north should be respected,” he added.
