YOUTHS ARMED WITH BASEBALL BAT IN BID TO HIJACK CARS IN CO DERRY

police-on-roadPOLICE are hunting a group of young people armed with a baseball bat who are believed to be behind a series of attempted car hijackings in Co Derry.

The incidents were reported at the junction of Ardmore Road and Milltown Crescent in the Tullyally area just after midnight this morning, Thursday, August 4.

Investigating officer Constable Millar said: “It was reported that at around 00.20am a number of cars were stopped by a group of youths on the Ardmore Road near the Tullyally Road in an attempt to hijack them.

“One of the youths was reported to be carrying a baseball bat.

“I am appealing for anyone with information who may have witnessed any suspicious activity in the area or have information about the incident to contact police at Strand Road on 101 quoting reference 20 4/8/16.”
