TRIDENT SPENDING EXPOSES HYPOCRISY OF TORIES – MCCARTNEY

Raymond McCartney water chargesSINN Féin’s Raymond McCartney has said the British government’s planned spending on Trident nuclear submarines exposes the hypocrisy of their austerity agenda.

The Foyle MLA said:  “Sinn Féin is totally opposed to the British government’s plans to spend billions on replacing Trident submarines and on the proliferation of nuclear weapons.

“For years the Tories have slashed spending on frontline public services and on welfare supports for those most in need in our society while they pursued their punishing austerity agenda.

“Yet now they have chosen to spend billions on weapons of mass destruction.

“It shows the complete and total disdain the Tories have for ordinary people.

“The money is there to support first-class public services but the war mongers of the Tory party choose instead to waste billions on weapons instead of helping those struggling under their austerity policies,” he added.
