New signing Harry Monaghan has recurrence of knee injury for tonight’s game against Wexford Youth

DERRY CITY manager Kenny Shiels has a number of doubts for tonight’s home clash against Wexford Youths (kick off 7.45 pm).

But a major blow to his team after a three week break is the absence tonight of midfielder Harry Monaghan.

He looks set to be sidelined following a setback in his recovery to a long standing knee injury during training this week.

A number of other players also had to miss out training as manager Shiels tries to get his team back in shape following the break go chasing the title.

Nathan Boyle, Niclas Vemmelund and Ryan McBride all sat out training on Wednesday,.

However, Shiels is hoping all will be on the pitch tonight at the Brandywell.

Hamstrings look like they will prevent Lukas Schubert and Rory Patterson from taking part this evening. The last time the time two teams met in Wexford, the Candy Stripes ran out 2-1 winners.

But it is not doom and gloom for Shiels.

He can welcome back Barry McNamee who had been missing through illness.
