ISRAEL MUST END WATER WAR AGAINST GAZA – ANDERSON

SINN Féin MEP Martina Anderson has said Israel must end its water war against Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank.

Ms Anderson said: “In recent days Israel has been systematically ramping up its campaign to cut off water supplies to Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank.

“This is clearly a deliberate act as the illegal Israeli settlements have access to an uninterrupted supply of water while Palestinians are denied access to this basic right.

“The interruption to the water supply has led to sanitation problems in Gaza with much of the water that is available unsafe to drink and sewage flowing into the Mediterranean.

“It is totally unacceptable that Israel is waging a water war against the Palestinian people in Gaza and the West Bank.

“The international community, and in particular the European Union, must act to support the Palestinian people in the face of this growing humanitarian problem,” added the Derry politician.
