YOU ARE OUR HERO….Robbie Brady header secures Ireland’s place into the last 16 against France
WHAT a night! What a game! What a result! What an atmosphere!
Who would have thought that the Republic of Ireland would pull off the ultimate ‘Italian Job!’
On 85 minutes Robbie Brady headed in a a wonderful goal to send Ireland through and send tens of thousands of Ireland fans delirious in the stands.
Martin O’Neill ringed the changes and brought in Derry men Shane Duffy and James McClean to spice things up.
And the Derry lads did themselves proud with their work rate and hard effort.
Creggan’s McClean should have had a stonewall penalty in the first half after he was shoved over in the box.
But as the clock ticked down in the second half it looked like Ireland would have pulled off the performance of the tournament without a result.
And then Wes Hoolahan popped up with a cross with five minutes to go and Robbie Brady was unmarked in the box to head Ireland through.
What a goal! What a header! What a night!
Ireland are through.
Now they play France in the quarter finals!!
