Paul Hegarty joins Finn Harps as assistant manager

FINN Harps FC have confirmed that Paul Hegarty has been appointed as assistant manager.

The Donegal side said in a statement tonight: “Following recent discussions the former Harps and Derry City manager has agreed to take on the role vacated by Gavin Dykes, who left Finn Park to take over as head Coach at Ballinamallard United FC.”

Harps manager Ollie Horgan said: “It was important to find a successor to Gavin as quickly as possible so we can work on preparations for the vital matches we have coming up after the break.

“It was always going to be difficult to find someone who could replace someone of Gavin’s experience.

“But Paul certainly fits the bill.

“He brings with him a wealth of knowledge and he will be a huge asset as we battle to secure our premier division status.”

Hegarty turned down the opportunity to become Derry City’s permanent manager at the end of last season.

The job was snapped up by Kenny Shiels.
