Rory Patterson is back in the Derry City squad to face Galway United this evening
DERRY City face Galway United tonight in their last game before the mid-season break (KO 7.45pm).
The Brandywell men have a very good record at Eamonn Deacy Park, as they have won in their last four visits.
Despite the good run of form, boss Kenny Shiels knows it’s going to be a tough test for his team, but a victory would be a perfect send-off ahead of the three week break.
“It’s a pivotal game for us because at the moment there are five teams fighting for that third spot,” he said.
“Rovers, Galway, St Pat’s, ourselves and you can put Sligo in that category as well, they are starting to push on, with all their English players.
“If you look at it realistically, I think there’s one position from five and it would be great to be in the mix for it, come the end of the season and if we could get near to that it would be fantastic.
“With Galway one of those teams fighting for that place, I feel it’s a six pointer for us and we would really love to win that game, as it would put us in a very good position.”
City welcome back striker Rory Patterson to their squad, but midfielder’s Barry McNamee, Gareth McGlynn and Harry Monaghan all miss out again.
This evening’s game will be live on both BBC Radio Foyle & Drive 105.3FM ‘Match Night Live’ from 7.30pm.
