Breaking newsTHERE is more bad news on the jobs front this evening for Derry.

Just days after Seagate announced it was to cut 70 jobs, staff at Campsie-based engineering solutions firm Sphere Global have told Derry Daily that the workforce is to be cut.

The bombshell news was delivered to staff on Friday by management, which is headed up by founder and managing director Sean McNicholl.

But one insider said management were unable to say how many posts would be slashed.

The employee told Derry Daily on Friday evening: “Sphere Global called all staff into the office on Friday to announce imminent redundancies.

“They could not answer how many but said it would happen within the next few weeks.

“They have been actively recruiting up until last week even though they were late paying our wages last month.

“They won company of the year last year hosted by Derry chamber of commerce. We are all worried for our jobs.”

Derry Daily has been trying to contact Sphere Global this weekend for comment but the company phone number has been continually ringing out.
