FORMER Derry City boss Gavin Dykes has been appointed as the new manager of Irish Premiership side Ballinamallard Utd.

The 48-year-old replaces Whitey Anderson who left the post at Ferney Park after 10 years at the helm.

Dykes resigned as Derry City manager in May 2004 after their 2-0 home defeat to Drogheda United in the old Eircom League which left the Brandywell side second bottom of the league.

He joined the Candystripes in September 2003.
