SINN Féin Councillor Mickey Cooper has welcomed the news that the Pennyburn Recycling Centre is to re-open this week with a new state of the art facility.

He said the key capital development project represented an investment of over £1.5m from Council including £250,000 from Rethink Waste.

Councillor Cooper added: “I welcome the opening of this new state of the art facility.

“The new facility will have more enhanced and improved recycling services and will be more accessible, safer and user friendly.

“This is part of the Councils key commitments to improve recycling across the city and district.

2I would ask users of the new facility to give it time to bed in and give  that bit of extra travel time to get in and out of Pennyburn Industrial Estate  whilst the road works are taking place.”
