foylesearchand-rescueA man has been treated in hospital after he was taken away from the River Foyle.

He was led away yesterday afternoon by volunteers from the Foyle Search and Rescue (FSR).

The incident happened just before 4.30 pm after the FSR were contacted by a concerned member of the public.

The witness reported a person on the wrong side of the railings along the river.

FSR mobilised its Emergency Response Team to the scene.

This involved one boat and a land crew.

Within several minutes the crews located the man where the witness had reported seeing him.

Following a conversation with the FSR land crew, he was led to safety.

He was transferred by ambulance to Altnagelvin Hospital for examination.
