POLICE VANA MAN to undergo emergency surgery after he was the victim of a dissident republican ‘punishment attack’ in Derry this evening.

It is understood the man was shot in the legs.

The shooting happened at a new housing development near St Peter’s school in McGowna Park in the Creggan area,

Police, first responder paramedics and ambulance crews attended the scene of the shooting.

The victim has been taken to the accident and emergency unit at Altnagelvin Area Hospital.
