SINN Féin Councillor Kevin Campbell has condemned those who burned out a car in Oakland Park area of Creggan on Tuesday night.

Councillor Campbell said: “The young people who were driving around in this car have no respect for either the local community or its residents.

“A local resident who I spoke to said that the car was parked up in Oakland Park on Monday and left there all day.

“Then a young person returned on Tuesday afternoon and took it away it was then brought back on Tuesday night around 11.30 pm and set on fire.

“These people had no regard for the local community when they set it on fire in such a built up area.

“There were young children in their beds when this car was burned ,this had a traumatic affect on them.

“The heat from the burning car also destroyed a neighbour’s fence.

“I would appeal to people if they know the whereabouts of any of these run around cars to report it immediately either myself or any other community worker or the PSNI.

“These cars need to be taken off our streets.”
