Derry GAA player Eoin Bradley on drink drive charges

DERRY Gaelic footballer and Irish League player Eoin Bradley appeared in court yesterday charged with driving with excess alcohol.

The 32-year-old  footballer, Woodland Park, Kilrea, faced Coleraine Magistrates’ Court on Monday for a first remand hearing.

It is alleged that on Sunday, February 7 this year at The Diamond in Kilrea he was driving with excess alcohol in his breath.

He also faced the alternative charge of driving whilst unfit through drink or drugs.

Bradley is also charged with driving without due care and attention at Coleraine Street in Kilrea on the same date.

The sports star – who also plays for Lurgan side Glenavon FC – is also alleged to have failed to remain at the scene of an accident in which damage was caused and failed to report an accident.

He also faces other charges relating to August 15, 2015.

Bradley is alleged to have used a mobile phone whilst driving at The Diamond in Kilrea and on the same date he is accused of driving a Volkswagen Jetta without being the holder of a driving licence as well as another charge of failing to produce a driving licence within seven days.

During his appearance yesterday at Coleraine Magistrates’ Court, Bradley stood in the dock and nodded “yep” when asked if he understood the charges.

A police officer said she believed she could connect him to the charges.

Bradley was not asked to enter a plea of guilty or not guilty to the raft of motoring charges.

A defence solicitor asked for Bradley’s case to be adjourned to later this month.

District Judge Mark Hamill released Bradley on his own bail of £300 with no conditions.

Eoin Bradley also plays his football with Glenavon FC
