Two men to face Derry court charged with causing the death of David John Richie by dangerous driving

TWO men are to face a court tomorrow charged in connection with a fatal crash on the main Derry to Belfast Road almost three years ago.

David John Richie, 69, died during the head-on collision on the Glenshane Road near Burntollet Bridge.

The fatal smash happened around 8.45 pm on Wednesday, April 17, 2013.

A man and a woman were also injured in the collision between a black Vauxhall Astra and a silver Vauxhall Astra.

A 25-year-old man, from the Ardmore area of Derry, has been charged with a number of offences in connection with the crash, including causing the death of Mr Richie by dangerous driving.

He has also been charged with causing grievous bodily harm to Stephen Magee by dangerous driving, driving whilst disqualified and driving without insurance.

A 33-year-old man from the Altnagelvin area of the city is also charged with causing the death of David John Richie by dangerous driving.

Both men due to face Derry Magistrates’ Court tomorrow for a first remand hearing.
