PLANNING chiefs have given the green light for the building of 222 new homes in the Waterside area of Derry.
The approval of the development on land between Belt Road, Church Road and Ashcroft in the Altnagelvin has been given despite 51 objections.
Locals objected to the plans for mostly two storey homes on the grounds of noise and even of anti-social behaviour.
The plans also provide for a play area for children, retail shopunits and a neighbourhood facility.
