THE first anniversary Mass for Martin McCrossan will be held this week, his family have announced.

The Mass will be take place this Thursday, February 4, in St Eugene’s Cathedral at 7.30 pm.

His family say everyone is welcome to attend.

Affectionately known as ‘Mr Derry’, Martin was Derry’s greatest ambassador.

He is a much loved and much missed dad, grandad, tour operator, historian and above all a gentleman.

Martin passed away at a hospital in Belfast in February last year after a short illness.

He was a champion for all the good things about Derry which led led to hundreds and hundreds of tributes to him at his sad passing 12 months ago from those who loved and knew him.

Martin is still fondly remembered for doing so much for Derry – he was a salesman for the city, for the county, for Donegal and the North West.

He was passionate about saving our historic city centre from decline; the only thing which seemed to get him down was seeing shutters coming down on another city centre building.

But even then, he smiled through it.

People in a 100 countries around who world met ‘Mr Derry’ over the years and left our city happier and wiser for it.
