Benny Heron: gets scores a goal for Derry to round off a great team move.

Benny Heron scores a goal for Derry to round off a great team move.

DERRY go into half time at Celtic Park trailing by a single point to Fermanagh in the Allianz NFL Division two game (throw in was 2.15 pm).

There were early points from Oakleafers Ryan Bell and Emmett Bradley.

But Fermanagh got an early goal from Ruairi Corrigan after ten minutes.

James Kielt pointed from a free after 22 minutes to keep Derry in touch.

A few minutes later Benny Heron broke a Fermanagh attack and started one for Derry and  Conor McAtamney finished it with a point.

Fermanagh’s Declan McCusker could have scored a goal but took a point instead and the Ernemen’s lead is back to two points.

But on 26 minutes Benny Heron crashed the ball into the roof of the net to finish a super team move. Derry lead 1-04 to 1-03.

However, the lead is short lived as Sean Quigley pointed a free after 29 minutes and it was all square in Celtic Park at 1-04 a piece.

On 34 minutes, Danny Heavron is fouled and James Kielt pointed his second free and Derry led by one approaching half time.

But Tomas Corrigan leveled it up again with both teams evenly matched at 1-05.

As the teams entered two minutes of added time, Fermanagh took the lead with an Aidan Breen point.

So at half time the scoreline was Derry 1-5 to Fermanagh’s 1-6.
