MAN SUSTAINS FRACTURED EYE SOCKET IN DERRY ASSAULT

Police securityppicDETECTIVES in Derry are investigating a brutal assault during which a man suffered a double fracture.

The man sustained serious injuries to his eye socket and hand when he was assaulted in a laneway earlier this month but details have only been released today.

The PSNI say detectives are investigating the report of a serious assault on a man in the Foyle Crescent area in the early hours of New Year’s Day, Friday, January 1.

A spokesperson said: “Sometime between 1.30am and 2am the man was attacked by two males in a laneway which runs beside Foyle Crescent and sustained injuries including a fractured hand and eye socket as a result.

QPolice are appealing to anyone who witnessed the assault or who has any information to contact officers in Strand Road on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
